How Do You Get There to  Amazon Peru Manu Wildlife

 To get there we have to take a flight to the city of Cusco from Lima or other main cities in Peru.  Or direct transportation from Lima to Cusco 18 hours.

   Ground transportation to the entrance area: From Cusco, you can take a land vehicle to the entrance area to Manu.  Travel time may vary depending on road conditions.

   Entrance to the Reserve: Upon reaching the entrance area, it is necessary to register at the control office and obtain the necessary permits to enter the reserve.  It is recomemended to hire a tour with a specialized agency to facilitate these procedures.

   River Navigation: From the entrance area, a boat trip is made along the Madre de Dios River to the desired area within Manu.

   Stay and exploration: Once in Manu, it is possible to stay in lodges or camps within the reserve and participate in guided excursions to explore the fauna and flora of the place, as well as visit indigenous communities.

   Remember that it is essential to have up-to-date information, make travel arrangements in advance and make sure you comply with the requirements and regulations established to enter the Manu Biosphere Reserve.  It is recommended to check with specialized travel agencies or local authorities for accurate and up-to-date details on how to get to your desired destination.

The trip starts in the City of Cusco. From there, you will travel southeast toward the town of Huambutio and from there, to the locality of Paucartombo (the capital of the province of the same name); the 105- kilometer trip is made on a paved highway and can toke less than 2.5 hours.

 From there, the route continues in the form of a car-accessible trail running in a northeasterly direction, passing through the community of Challabamba until arriving at the Acjanaco Pass (35 kilometers or 50 minutes, approximately) manu rainforest jungle.

 

The Ajanaco Pass marks the start of the Kosñipata

District. Many people think that when the highway begins descending after the pass, they will find themselves in Jungle Manu National Park. However, that is not entirely true, though you will be in  Manu Biosphere Reserve, which includes Manu National Park as its Nuclear Zone Additionally, Manu Biosphere Reserve has two other zones, the Transitional Zone and Buffer Zone, wherein are found the towns of Challabamba, Kosñipata, and Salvación, among others.

 This section of the route, immersed in the cloud forest, is quite well known by nature lovers as the 'Manu Road, primarily due to the enormous amount of biodiversity one sees there.  we encounter the communities of Chontachaca, Asunción, Patria, and Pillcopata. The latter is the district capital, where you can find tourist services, from basic to very sophisticated. The distance from the cloud forest to Pilcopata is 70 km and can be covered in three hours.

 The last section of this highway, surrounded by forest, runs toward the river port of Atalaya, approximately 25 km away, from there it is possible to travel on the Alto Madre de Dios River to Manu Naional Park -Amazon manu Jungle Trips
