 CANOEING

The Kosñipata Valley is an enormous basin for millions of liters of water daily. The principal rivers that originate in the mountains are the Pillcopata, Tono, Piñi Piñi, and Queros. The courses of these rivers, in addition to irrigating the great Madre de Dios or Yacumama River, are ideal spots for practicing adventure water sports such as rafting and kayaking.

The rapids in this part of the Kosñipata Valley are of an intermediate level of difficulty, from level 2 to 3 or higher; as such, it is important to perform these activities with qualified professionals and companies that know these rivers.

Being able to enter a river to use your Own effort and skills, while avoiding obstacles and feeling the spirit of the rainforest from the water, is undoubtedly an experience that cannot be done every day and is possible to do in Manu Biosphere Reserve. Manu Biosphere Reserve

HORSE RIDING

If you enjoy calm horseback rides and especially being able to do so in such a pleasant forest, this is an option you should consider.

The paths the valley furnishes for horseback riding are unique in type: they cover an area that is located between the cloud forest and rainforest. The air is very fresh, it is very humid, and there are many majestic mountain spots, rivers, crops, and a great deal of flora and fauna - these are some of the things you will be able to see during just one day of horseback riding.

Being able to stop at a river bend, take a quick dip, and then have some lunch while the horses graze and drink water is a very energizing experience that you can enjoy together with your friends or relatives.

 HIKING

Hiking, without a doubt, is an incredible alternative for discovering the forest and its residents. There are options in the Andean zone where the paths in Manu National Park are unparalleled spaces that enable us to understand the ecological succession of the ecosystems. Further down, in the cloud forest many tourist companies have their own paths each with its own peculiarities, wherein the birds are the principal attraction.

The road in this sector is known as 'Manu Road and is very famous among bird watchers and naturalists.

In the Amazonian grassland, the forest becomes taller and walking in it is an experience you cannot miss.

 GLOBAL BIG DAY

This is a day in which people all over the world collectively record as many bird species as possible in a given country. No one is competing with anyone else for global sightings; however, in each country people try to see the greatest number possible of bird species.

GBD is organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology at Cornell University in the United States. The Lab also created bird, a platform used for collecting the information generated and measuring participation. This event has been held in the Kosñipata Valley for several consecutive years

CUISINE

The district's cuisine is a combination of the historic events that have taken place in this region. On one hand, the indigenous peoples in these forests knew how to adapt to conditions of the land for many years by discovering the necessary resources for ensuring their subsistence.

This wa how they successfully domesticated some plants and learned to identify the ones they could directly harvest from the forest for their food.

Many forest fruits, animal species, stalks, and roots are still used today to complement these indigenous peoples' diets. In addition, the migrations from the Andes to the Amazon brought with them customs and ways of life that, while very different, were adapted over time to their new milieu, including using local resources in their diets.

Thus, yucca and plantain, for example, fulfill the function of the potato; paco, an Amazonian fish, is eaten quite frequently; and fruit such as bananas, pineapples, papayas, and recently, copoazú' are a part of the daily diet of the area's residents.

A fusion of flavors resulted from our anthropic dynamics.

and while diverse groups of bird watchers organize themselves to make and record sightings, the Manu National Park knows which groups of aficionados are participating and in which areas they are completing their observation lists. It is possible to join one of  these groups if you are interested in bird watching and wish to learn a bit more. If so, you should contact Manu National Park in order to coordinate this activity
